The Tingvoll Church, the old Pastor's house and the church's jetty where boats with churchgoers from across the fjord used to land.
(2004-10-03)

The name Tingvoll stems from Old Norse "thingvollr". A "thing" was a parlimentary assembly and court of law, and "vollr" was an open field. This lay close to the place where the church now stands, and the church itself is built on the ruins of a temple of the old religion. The church is believed to be 800 to 850 years old, built from stone with double walls.

There is thorough description of the church (new window/tab) in English (and Norwegian) on a local site.
