The Byneset stone church – originally St. Michael's Church on Stein (Sancti Michaeli de Steini). Built by Archbishop Eystein probably 1170–80 and dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The steeple (built 1638) is as leaning as it looks (see however bottom of page). The church stands on (the farm) Stene on Byneset in the district of Trondheim, south-west of the town, overlooking the Orkdal fjord.
