She is wearing rubber boots, normally suitable for this wet weather. Unfortunately the soles are too soft for tender feet on stony ground. On this two day trip, each day 25 km, halfway on the second day her feet felt on fire. Somewhat delayed she reached the car, still smiling. The next Christmas one of her presents was proper mountain shoes.
