Ridderspranget – the wild river Sjoa

Ridderspranget (The Knight's Leap) near the road through the eastern part of Jotunheimen across Valdresflya. The wild river Sjoa (less wild at this time of the year) is a favorite for white water paddling and rafting. The name Ridderspranget originates from an eight hundred years old legend: A knight, abducting another man's bride, jumped to the other side carrying the girl. The gap on top of the cleft is a little more than two meters, but the edge may be slippery, a few years ago a guy (not carrying a bride) ended up in the river. He somehow survived. Evidently many have succeeded, see this picture.
