Google Maps™ – Stalheim, Voss

View of the valley Nærøydalen from the Stalheim Hotel. On the left glimpses of the old road (Stalheimskleiva) zigzagging down to Nærøydalen. It is narrow and has a maximum inclination of 18.5 percent, but it's safe to drive there. The main road now descends through a tunnel. This is one of the most photographed views in Norway. And painted.

Stalheim

Colored black and white picture, probably 1890–1900. The Stalheim Hotel and roughly the same view as above.

Stalheimskleiva

Colored black and white picture, probably 1890–1900. The old steep road, Stalheimskleiva, now asphalted, but still narrow. Tourist busses often choose this route, I met a dozen last time I drove down there. At least the tourists in the busses enjoyed it.

Stalheimskleiva

Colored black and white picture, probably 1890–1900. Stalheimskleiva seen from below.
