Showers and cold air were expected, but the rain and the temperature drop came late in the afternoon. That's why some children wear a coat or have it wrapped around the waist.

National costumes. Six (seven?) of the girls are wearing the local (Trøndelag) costume which has three alternate colors – blue, green and red. (Don't ask about the other ones.)

National costumes. Three girls are wearing the green Nordland costume, Nordland is the next district north of Trøndelag. One girl wears the red variant of the Trøndelag costume.

The blond teacher to the left wears the Trøndelag costume. Many children wore real national costumes, but a greater number wore less expensive costumes of a similar style.

Spectators – parents, grandparents ... With the camera, I wished I were eight feet tall. Does it occur to you that this picture shows some elements from the west side of The Pond? The pillar on the left supports the statue of Olav Tryggvason, the founder of the town, see the picture below.
