The Dragvoll campus, the first part dates back to 1971. Here resides the institutes for the "soft sciences" like history, language ... This was the main part of the second university (in addition to the Technical University) in Trondheim, established in 1968. In 1996 the two universities was forced to join with the name Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Now there are three campuses: Gløshaugen (~10,000 students), Dragvoll (~10,000 students), and the hospital site for the medical studies.
