Memorial in the Falstad Woods, Ekne, Levanger, Nord-Trøndelag (artist: Odd Hilt 1947). During World War II, in the dark Falstad Woods, behind this memorial, prisoners were executed. The total number is probably 220–300, and from an earlier count there were more than 100 from the Soviet Union, 74 Serbs and 43 Norwegians. This picture was taken on a day with rain and sun two days after the Constitution Day, which explains the wet wreaths.

This brick building was constructed in the 1920s after the previous building had burnt down. It was then a boarding school for "misguided" (usually called delinquent) boys. During World War II, in September 1941, the German Gestapo took over the building. During the rest of the war it was used as a prison, together with several buildings erected around the main building. During four years after the war it served as a prison for Norwegian "traitors" and German war criminals. Later the extra buildings were demolished, and from 1951 till 1999 the building housed a school again, this time for mentally retarded children, and later for children with learning disabilities.
